Description
A very rare promotional booklet for the film Alien dated from 1978. Accommodating 22 full photograph-based pages, with 4 adhered back-to-back, this was produced by hand by SB International Photographic of London as an early preview of the production that was taking place at the time.Bound by a spiral attachment, the pages of photographs consist of color and black and white lab-processed photographs, from the source negatives from the production company. It includes the early Twentieth Century Fox logo and early title art that was prior to the final adverting campaign for it's release in 1979. Images include the director and cast on sets, an alien hive illustration by H.R. Giger and a full shot of the Nostromo and another of an early version of the refinery.
An early example of film promotion using actual photographs shot by Bob Penn, processed in a lab, and assembled into hand-produced book for limited distribution. The included summary states these were photographs taken during the first 3 weeks of production. The black and white images have a matte finish while the color pages are semi-glossy on Kodak labeled stock.
Aging consists of wear to the clear plastic covers, cover page discoloration, some loss of the spiral attachment retaining rings, edge wear and some separation of surfaces and of the back-to-back adhesion. This item consists of 22 pages at 11" x 15". Of only 20 reported produced, one of these was appraised on Antiques Roadshow for 00.00.
